Jev Gmail privacy policy
Last updated: November 1, 2026
Who this covers
Jev Gmail is a personal tool run by Alex Walker for his own Gmail account. No other person's account is connected to it, and it is not offered to the public.
What it reads
With the Gmail access the account owner grants, Jev Gmail reads each email's headers (sender, recipients, subject, date) and its text, and the account's labels.
What it does with that data
- It sends a trimmed copy of each email's text to the TypeSafe Jev classification service, which returns a category and a few scores. Nothing else is sent there.
- It adds labels to emails and removes the Inbox label from bulk promotional mail. It never deletes or trashes email and never sends email.
- It stores each email's headers, trimmed text and the classification result in a private database on a server the owner controls, so that rules can be rerun without asking Jev again.
- For mail from a short list of business contacts, it posts a one-line notice (sender, subject and labels, never the email body) to the owner's private Slack workspace.
What it never does
- It does not sell, rent or share Gmail data with anyone, and does not use it for advertising.
- It does not use Gmail data to train general AI or machine learning models.
- It does not let any person other than the account owner read the stored data.
Jev Gmail's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Keeping and deleting data
Stored data stays on the owner's server until the owner deletes it. Revoking Jev Gmail's access in the Google Account's security settings stops all further reading at once.
